The 2010 season seems a distant memory, and the New Year is nearly here,

so it’s time to launch the
2011 Mega Prediction Competition – bigger and better!
(Note thtat this is separate to the race-by-race prediction game, which will be launched in time for the first race of the season)This year there are 30 questions – ten of which are specific to races and will be updated throughout the season to keep us all interested
You get one point for each question that you predict correctly. Many questions ask for the name of a team or driver, or give a choice of two options (yes/no or driver A/driver B), but where I have asked you to predict a number (eg Q8) then you need to predict the correct answer to be correct
but if you are off by just one then you don’t get your point.
The winner is the person with the most points when it’s all over, but there are some tie-breakers if two or more players score the same points.
The deadline for submitting your answers is Midnight, 31st January 2011 (UK time)By my reckoning that give everyone about 8 weeks to get their answers in.
Please submit your answers by replying in this thread.
You can change your answers at any time up to the deadline, by re-submitting in this thread. Once the deadline passes, your final post will be taken as your definitive answers.
Thanks for taking part, and Good Luck everyone!

Clarifications:If you are unsure about any question, please post in this thread and I will clarify.
Tie breakers – it doesn’t matter if you are above or below the actual answer, closest person wins.
The answers will be taken from the official FIA results, after all penalties and appeals etc have been applied.
Questions where you predict a driver:
If you predict a driver for a question, then you are stuck with that driver – even if he changes team, gets the sack, stops driving etc.
Your prediction is “Driver X”, not “Driver X or his replacement”
Likewise, predictions are based on driver name, not car number.
Questions where you predict a team:
If a team is bought and renamed – but is clearly the same operation (like Campos/HRT in 2010, or Midland/Spyker a few years ago) then it will be classed as the same team for the purposes of this game.
Q5 - if your predicted engine is tied in first place, you get the point. Engines will be grouped by manufacturer, even if they are re-branded by a sponsor. For example Sauber used to brand their Ferrari engines as ‘Petronas’, but for the purposes of this game I would still class them as Ferrari engines.
Q7 - refers to the Mercedes Grand Prix team, not Mercedes the engine supplier.
Q9 - refers to the team known as Lotus in 2010 (the team that Mike Gascoyne works for) – even if they may be renamed for 2011. It does not refer to any other team which may be called Lotus in 2011, i.e. Renault.
Q12 - refers to the team known as Renault in 2010 (the team that Robert Kubica drove for) – even if they are renamed as Lotus (or whatever) for 2011. Likewise ‘Mercedes’ refers to Mercedes Grand Prix the team, not the engine supplier. If they both score the same points, you get the point no matter who you predicted.
Q13 - if they both score the same points, you get the point no matter who you predicted.
Q17 - if they both score the same points, you get the point no matter who you predicted.
Q18 – if Massa does not compete the answer will be ‘no’
Q19 - The cars can be in any order, as long as just 5 teams take all the top 10 places.
* If any race is cancelled (e.g. India) then any related questions will be declared void, with no points awarded.
* Classifying a race as "wet" is purely dependent on tyre use, and refers to the Sunday race only. If any team uses an intermediate or wet tyre it will be classed as a "wet" race. If it rains but all cars stay on slicks, it will be classed as a "dry" race.
* In all cases 'Pole' refers to the driver who starts from P1 on the grid after all penalties, grid drops and appeals etc have been applied. It does not necessarily mean the driver who had the fastest time in Q3.
* All questions relating to “how many points...” will be after any deductions for penalties etc (i.e. when McLaren lost their constructors points in 2007)
