I've been sitting here at home discussing the racing with my daughter, she's not had the chance to watch the racing as much of late because of her work hours and so when she saw and heard Lee McKenzie yesterday she was a bit taken aback. Some of the comments were, is she foreign, I couldn't understand her (and that's bad seeing as one Scot can't understand another) and she's (insert expletive) bring back Louise Goodman, at least she knew what she was talking about.
Now I know Lee appeals to the boys because of her looks, and yes, she also has race experience as a rally driver but I must admit I'm not and never have been keen on her as a commentator. Thing is though I can't put my finger on why that should be. I found it interesting that out of the blue my daughter had the same thoughts... is it just females that find her irritating I wonder, I know given the choice I'd rather have Louise Goodman back in the role.
So come on gents (and ladies too), be honest. What do you really think of the two girls and what do you want from a female journalist, looks or knowledge? If the men who report aren't chosen for their eye candy factor is it fair that the women are judged on just that?

I really don't notice that Lee exists most weekends. Woefully underused by the BBC - either give her something to do or save the air fare.

Come on, we hear her more than see, personally I think we should see more of her . Her Scottish accent isn't heavy at all. To be honest I didn't know she was Scottish until was pointed out to me, I thought she was from Newcastle or something. She's better than Legard though and would actually not mind if they replaced Legard with Lee, yes it would be rubbish but at least the sounds would be better!. I found Louise very annoying with seemingly less motorsport intelligence and wit compared to Lee, plus Lee is better to look at and listen to .

I know very little of Lee, so I'm reluctant to comment, but I thought Louise did a very good job and had great knowledge. Did you know her partner (who sadly passed away a few years ago) worked for Minardi for years?
Personally I would always choose knowledge and ability over youth and looks when it comes to journalism - both male and female. If there are two female journalists who are equally as good at their jobs as each other, TV bosses tend to pick the prettier/younger one - I'm not saying I condone it but I can see why they do it. However I do object to a knowledgable and skilled female broadcaster being replaced by a younger/prettier woman who knows nothing - like the (in some eyes) pretty-but-dumb girl who replaced the older woman on Strictly Come Dancing (sorry, don't know their names).

For me..Louise.
I suppose the BBC have not only to consider the ( I assume ) vastly male-orientated viewing public, but maybe a more attractive female reporter is more likely to get a sound bite from the interviewee??

Louise.
Don't even notice Lee to be honest, and I don't know what she looks like.

Interesting, I always assumed they were catering for the female audience, or at least trying to attract more women to a male dominated sport - we only really ever hear their voices from the pitlane anyway.
