This weekend, the media cooled on the Kimi Raikkonen to Williams rumours – Raikonnen-Renault becoming the new flavour of the month and sure enough, this morning the Finn was confirmed as a Renault, or Lotus as it will be, driver next year. I actually thought Raikkonen was the wrong man for Williams as they try to pick up the team from a terrible season, anyway. However, with Renault suffering a similarly turbulent second half of the year, I wonder if the same will be in store for Lotus next year.

Earlier this week, more questions were asked about PDVSA’s sponsorship of the Williams team. With a Venezuelan congress into the deal ongoing, congressman, Carlos Ramos wrote to Williams to request further details of the deal. According to Venezuelan law, no public money can be committed to such projects without the approval of the Venezuelan Congress, and as a publicly owned company, that includes PDVSA…

While Williams F1 are in turmoil, with the team struggling near the back of the midfield and a major restructuring of the management in progress, one significant member of the team was missing today – Sir Frank himself. Instead, the team’s founder was in London for Jaguar’s big announcement. Jaguar has decided that it will launch the remarkable C-X75 concept car as a limited-edition, £700,000 hybrid supercar to rival the Bugatti Veyron – and it is enlisting the aid of the Williams F1 team to do it.
