European GP: Tyre and Pit Stop Strategy

Valencia, dull? 2012 begs to differ. Race winner, Fernando Alonso started from eleventh while nobody from the front two rows left with points in a topsy-turvy race that revolved around a mid-race safety car period and a series of retirements at the sharp end of the running order. The safety car was a big factor in the strategies too…

Given the team’s high standards, last year was a disappointing campaign and therefore Ferrari have taken an aggressive approach to designing this year’s charger with much of the car revised. However, with accusations that it is ugly, the pressure is on for the F2012 to justify its looks.

Hamilton Takes the Spoils in Abu Dhabi

Lewis Hamilton returned to winning ways with a dominant victory in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Only one man looked winning from the moment Sebastian Vettel’s rear tyre burst as he approached the second turn of the race. Fernando Alonso in second gave it his best shot, although Hamilton looked in control even when the Ferrari driver stayed out for a long second stint. Jenson Button completed the podium for McLaren after losing KERS early in the race.
