Well we’ve already seen the livery, now we get to see how it fits in with the new car and surprisingly, the livery appears to have more in common with the Championship winning Brawn BGP001 than the chassis design unveiled by Ross Brawn, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg in Valencia. With an aggressive design, the MGP W01 firmly says goodbye to Brawn, welcome to the Mercedes era.

The wings are a minor development of the Brawn but with the team focussing on the car since midway through 2009 the rest of …

The first of the Cosworth runners for 2010, Williams finally formally unveiled the FW32 after a series of ‘leaked’ photographs and videos (see end of article). Well, I say formally, they kind of just rolled it out of the garage and got on with testing. Sam Michael describes the FW32 as a clean sheet design but inevitably it retains some features of its predecessor.

At the front the whole nose is significantly raised but bucks the trend of following Adrian Newey’s “V”-nose concept. However, there’ is no sign of their innovative …

A new look and a new driver for Renault as the team unveiled a new livery as well as confirming the signing of Vitaly Petrov to race alongside Robert Kubica in 2010. One thing is for sure in 2010, Renault will have one of the most striking cars on the grid with a wasp-like yellow and black livery harking back to the car manufacturer’s first foray into Formula 1 in 1978.

But is it the the R30 though? Once you look past the livery it looks remarkably like the R29 – …

Sauber are back in the hands of Peter Sauber and with it the C-designation returns – 2010 is the C29. However, Concorde agreement issues means that BMW is likely to remain part of the team for this season, even if Ferrari are powering the car. Pedro De la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi unveiled the car in a decidedly low-key and low-budget affair. The livery is reminiscent of the outgoing BMW with a notable lack of sponsorship.

From the side, the stand out feature, apart from the eye-catching wheels, is the very …

It’s been a very busy week for F1 news with talk of testing and the first of the pre-season launches. In fact some teams aren’t happy with just one bite of the cherry; Williams went all viral video, pre-launch courtesy of a “tweet” from Rubens Barrichello to help generate some extra column inches, whilst Mercedes GP decided to have two launches. The first for their paintwork and to introduce their drivers with the proper car launch scheduled for next week, pity they chose to show off their pretty new colour …

Hot on the heels of Ferrari is their perennial rivals McLaren, as World Champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton unveiled the MP4-25 at Vodafone’s headquarters in Newbury. McLaren immediately getting one up on the opposition by having a live feed that actually worked. The more or less maintains the previous year’s livery, with the Vodafone logo on the sidepods more closely following their sculpted shape.

The car sports a higher, more chiselled nose, although without the RB5’s raised edges. Interestingly, like Ferrari, McLaren have moved the camera mounts on to the …
