Plugged! Marshals, Fluidics and Some Guy Called Britney
In praise of the motorsport marshal
No-one likes to see someone injured in a motorsports accident, whilst we sit in the comfort of our homes watching television we’re far removed from the danger it poses to drivers and spectators alike. Not so the marshals; these volunteers work behind the scenes making sure the event runs smoothly, yet all too often they are first on scene at an accident, risking their own safety to assist those involved. I’m starting off today’s links with a timely look at the role of marshals from Italian blogger Ilaria in her blog Il Pit Stop. Ilaria is fairly new to blogging but it’s clear that she has a passion for writing about F1; I do hope you’ll support her work with a comment.
The dreaded off-season
Shhh… yes, I really did mention the off-season but I’ve done so for a very good reason, the chance to meet-up with like-minded fans and view some historic racing cars at the Donington Grand Prix Collection at, you guessed it, Donington on the 7th January. If you fancy going along too then you’ll have to drop by Marshall GP for the details. It looks like a fair few will be attending, what else are you doing that day?
Let’s get technical
As I’ve become more interested in Formula One I’ve become fascinated in how the technical regulations impinge on car development, so this post on an unexpected consequence of the ban on exhaust blown diffusers next season was thoroughly enjoyable reading. Billed as the only philosophy-physics-motorsport blog in the world you really must visit if you are interested in the technical aspect to F1.
What better way to start the weekend than with a bit of a giggle? These two related links are about Nico Rosberg… AKA Britney to the rest of the paddock! Nico reportedly got his nickname for his flowing blonde locks, but have you ever wondered what he would look like with a bit a make-up? Me neither… but you don’t have to wonder any longer for Tommy B has just probably scarred you for life and made many women envious in the process. It seems Nico has always been a bit of a cutie as Robyn at Rookie F1 has discovered, I’m left wondering how he could have grown up so beautiful seeing his father’s rugged looks.
I’ve a request for help from Dusky Blogger who’s looking to have as many people as possible fill in a driver’s review card for this season. Don’t worry about filling in a fancy table like the one pictured, all you have to do is name your driver and then give him a score from each column in the table. For example, Maldonado B,a,4,ii. Once Dusky has collated all the replies he’s planning to blog about the results. Do join in, it’s sure to be a bit of fun. You can leave your answers on the twitpic link if you have a twitter account or leave a comment on his blog.
You just couldn’t make it up, from next year Lotus (that’s Team Lotus) will be called Caterham whilst Renault (aka Group Lotus) will be called Lotus. If all that has you confused then why not be reminded of F1’s DNA in this post from the Viva F1 archive… I do hope its all clear now but if after all that you are still looking for some F1 news, why not follow this week’s recommended twitter account cmckinlayF1.
