A controversial race in Malaysia saw the drivers start out on the intermediate compound. However, once the track started to dry out and the teams switched to slicks after a few laps, it produced a wide range of strategies with a further three stops the preferred route to the chequered flag.

I guess I’m the type of person who enjoys trying to make statistics more visual, so Pirelli’s tyre and pit stop strategy stats were the perfect thing to keep me entertained for a while. My aim was to create a graphic that reflects Pirelli’s tyrewall colours so you can instantly tell when tyres were changed, which compound were used, the number of pitstops made and any stewards’ penalties.
